Local utilities & rebates

Florida utilities and incentives

  • Florida is served by many utilities, including Florida Power & Light (FPL), Duke Energy Florida, Tampa Electric (TECO), JEA, Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) and Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA).
  • The U.S. Department of Energy’s incentive database lists residential charger rebates from Duke Energy and KUA, make-ready rebates from Duke Energy and JEA, EV rebates from OUC, and charger pilot programs from FPL. Tampa Electric’s charger rebates are for commercial customers. See the DOE incentives list for Florida.
  • Under Florida law, condominium associations may not prohibit or restrict the installation or use of an EV charger in a designated parking space, though reasonable safety and architectural restrictions can apply. Check with your association or an attorney.
  • The federal 30C charger tax credit ended for equipment placed in service after June 30, 2026.

How it works

Installation in three steps

1 Assess & quote

We evaluate your electrical panel, location and needs, then give you a clear, itemized quote — no surprises.

2 Permit & install

Licensed electrical contractors from our network pull the permits and complete a safe, code-compliant installation.

3 Go live

Your electrician or the charger brand activates it and gets it online. Ongoing management is handled by the brand’s network or app.

Permits & local rules

How EV charger permitting works in Florida

Florida handles EV charging rules differently from many states.

State rules apply

Florida law (Fla. Stat. §366.94) preempts EV charging station regulation to the state. Local governments may not enact or enforce their own EV charging ordinances.

Permits are still required

Installations still need an electrical permit from your local building department, which issues it based on state standards.

Built for heat and storms

Outdoor chargers should be rated for heat, humidity and rain, with secure mounting and sensible placement for hurricane season.

Always confirm current rules with your building department. We work with your electrician and you to get permits squared away.
